Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Automotive Electrical Technician to perform Level 3 maintenance on the electrical systems of military vehicles, focusing on replaceable electronic components. This role involves troubleshooting and maintaining systems such as wiring, control modules, and communication systems to ensure vehicle operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostics and replacements of electrical line-replaceable units (LRUs), including wiring harnesses, control modules, and sensors.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues, determining if further Level 4 in-depth repairs are needed.
- Collaborate with mechanical technicians to confirm that electrical systems function correctly post-maintenance.
- Adhere to military standards and protocols, ensuring safety when working with high-voltage and sensitive systems.
- Conduct system checks and testing to verify the functionality of electrical components after repairs.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all electrical maintenance and update service logs.
Specializations:
- Power Distribution Technicians: Focus on the maintenance and replacement of power systems, including batteries, alternators, and wiring harnesses.
- Control System Technicians: Specialize in diagnosing and replacing vehicle control modules, sensors, and electronic control units (ECUs).
- Communication System Technicians: Handle troubleshooting and replacement of vehicle communication systems, such as radios and tactical data links.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; a technical diploma or certification in electrical systems, automotive electrical technology, or a related field is preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience as an electrical technician, ideally with military vehicles or heavy machinery.
- Strong understanding of automotive electrical systems, including wiring, circuits, power distribution, and control systems.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, multimeters, and electrical testing equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for resolving electrical issues in automotive systems.
