Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Automotive Mechanical Technician to perform Level 3 maintenance on military vehicles, focusing on replaceable mechanical units and components. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with mechanical systems such as engines, transmissions, and suspension systems and will contribute to ensuring the operational readiness of tactical and logistical vehicles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform Level 3 maintenance tasks, including the removal and replacement of line-replaceable mechanical units (LRUs) like engines, transmissions, and suspension systems.
- Conduct diagnostics to assess the condition of mechanical systems and determine the need for Level 4 in-depth repairs.
- Ensure functionality of mechanical systems post-maintenance by coordinating with test technicians for verification.
- Collaborate with electrical technicians to address integrated mechanical-electrical system issues.
- Adhere to military technical manuals and ensure compliance with maintenance guidelines.
- Document maintenance activities and update records for tracking and reporting purposes.
Specializations:
- Engine Systems Technicians: Focus on diagnostics, removal, and replacement of engines in tactical and logistical vehicles.
- Transmission & Drivetrain Technicians: Specialize in maintaining and replacing transmissions, differentials, and drivetrain components.
- Suspension & Brake Technicians: Responsible for the maintenance and replacement of suspension and brake systems on military vehicles.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical diploma or certification in mechanical technology preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably working with vehicles, heavy equipment, or machinery.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, and drivetrain components.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment for mechanical repairs.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills with experience in root cause analysis for mechanical failures.
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulations related to mechanical maintenance and repair.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with engineers and technical personnel.
- Physical ability to lift heavy components and work in confined spaces.
